Alabama Credit Union endeavors to give back to the community and provide ongoing support and commitment to worthy causes. Through direct financial support or other in-kind contributions to worthwhile organizations, and by participating in public service activities, Alabama Credit Union strives to be an active partner in our community with special emphasis on our youth.

Alabama Credit Union professionals and volunteers share their time, talents and resources with organizations and programs that deliver value in local communities.  Programs supported include those that positively impact communities and that tie with the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” Community initiatives are supported through various avenues:  golf tournaments, bowl-a-thons, vendor expos, sponsorships, employee contributions, raffles, and volunteer time. Programs will vary by location.

Organized through a committee of employees, Alabama Credit Union and its employees have partnered with local food banks to provide funding for the Backpack Program as its main initiative.

The Backpack Program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. Children have access to school breakfast and lunch each week and there are summer feeding programs, but before the Backpack Program was designed there was a tremendous gap for nutrition for these students during weekends.

If you would like more information about the Backpack Program or another cause Alabama Credit Union supports or if you would like to make a donation, please contact Dusti Monk at dmonk@AlabamaCU.com or 205.348.5946.
